Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is an anxiety disorder in which time people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively(compulsions).

The repetitive behaviors, such as hand washing, checking on things or cleaning, can significantly interface with a person`s Daily activities and social interactions.

To be diagnosed with OCD, a person must have obsessions, compulsions, or both, according to the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorder(DSM).

Treatment involves counseling, such as cognitive behavioral therapy(CBT), and sometimes medication, typically selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors(SSRIs).
